Description
The Nintendo GameCube: USB-C Kit is a board that allows you to replace the original power connector with a modern and standard USB-C port.
If your original connector or power supply is too old or damaged and you need a new one, or if you would like to power your Nintendo GameCube with a standard USB-C PD charger, such as the charger for your phone or laptop, you can do so with this kit.
This board is compatible with the following models:
- Nintendo GameCube (DOL-001) (1)
(1) This mod is compatible with GameCubes that have this power board. If your GC has this other model, it is not compatible, since the power button needs to be reused, and in this version it isn’t a separate part that can be removed and reused.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The USB-C Power Delivery technology (USB-C PD) allows for communication between the device and the charger, enabling the negotiation of the voltage to be supplied through the USB-C cable. In this case, the microchip included on this board is configured to request 12V, signaling to the charger that it requires 12V to operate. If the charger is compatible, it will supply the requested voltage. If it’s not compatible, nothing will happen, and the Nintendo GameCube won’t power on.

- Desoldering pump.
- Isopropyl alcohol.
NOTES
This kit requires a special power supply that supports power delivery (PD) with an output of 12V and a minimum of 3A. Generally, laptop power supplies and some phone chargers can be used. If you don’t have any, take a look at the list of recommendations. (The Nintendo Switch power supply is not compatible because it doesn’t supply 12V).
You will also need a USB-C to USB-C cable for PD. If you don’t have one, these will work:

This kit is brilliant if you know how to handle a soldering iron. No need to be a professional.
I love the addition of a 3 channel fan connector and that it utilizes the original power switch of the GameCube.
For a moment I was a little worried about desoldering the original switch however if you just add a bit of extra solder to the connections and then use a desoldering pump + desoldering wick it was a very easy process.
The usb-c (liquid 3D printed) bracket with the text looks wonderful.
Shipping was fast, good communication.
I would highly recommend Giltesa rather than buying a clone board from China for 2.5x the price.

Funciona perfectamente en mi Gamecube con GC-Loader, no me ha dado ningún tipo de problema, además es un gran detalle que incluye un hueco en la placa para poder soldar un conector de tres pines para el mod de noctua, así que de 10.

Really nice and sleek design. Note that the only reason you can’t use it with the buttons that are fully enclosed in plastic is that you can’t get the button out for re-use. If this is your case I recommend just finding a cheap replacement button on places like Aliexpress, ebay (and so on), unless you already have a donor console. The kit, once assembled, will work just as fine in the models that have the big plastic enclosure, it just requires you to get the button yourself.
This was the first mod I bought from Giltesa, but certainly not the last. I’ve already placed an order for mods to some of my other consoles.
